Chuncheon Eats: Johnny’s Bar

Once again, it’s the last few days of the month and…. it only means one thing. or more. haha. we’re trying our best to live a very simple life out of the last few bills from our pockets. Then suddenly, I received a mission from #wowkoreasupporters – to search for a good restaurant around our campus! 어떻게! What to do? How far can my ₩6000 take me 🙂

Since Kangwon National University’s Backgate (aka. Kangdae Humun) is small enough for a stroll back and forth, my friends and I settled to introduce one of our favorite spots in Humun – Johnny’s Bar!

Johnny's Bar. A resto that transforms into a bar at 8pm.

Johnny’s Bar is easy to spot in Humun because of its attractive and modern architectural exterior. From the outside, you would think that this place offers very expensive meals or cocktails but it’s actually the opposite. As this bar is located in the university’s backgate, the prices are student-budget friendly 😉

This bar offers sumptuous meal such as Oven Cheese Kimchi fried rice, Mixed Seafood Stir fry, 날치알밥 (according to Naver it’s  Rice with Kimchi and Flying Fish Roe), Menudo Fried Rice, and a variety of Donkatsu (Hot Chili, Pizza, and TarTar Sauce). My friends’ favorite food here are their pasta – Seafood Spaghetti, Oven Cheese Spaghetti, Cream Mushroom Pasta (Carbonara), Seafood Olive Pasta, and Mushroom Olive Pasta. Their special meals are Teriyaki chicken (highly recommended! ;)) and Herb chicken. Apart from serving delicious delicacies, they offer a few side dishes and free desserts! You can choose from coffee, tea, or ice cream. My friends and I always choose the ice cream. As mentioned earlier, some of these meals are served from 6pm – 8pm only, because after that the transformation begins, the resto becomes a bar. Pretty cool, huh? 😉

In this ‘Instagram-generation’, this bar is more than photogenic. The atmosphere is really good. A lot of yuppies and a couple of lovers spend their time here together and they can even choose to have a little space of privacy. If you’ll look at the pictures you’ll understand what I’m talking about.

Reception? Nah, cashier :)

My friends and I really had a good dinner at Johnny’s Bar and I’m pretty sure this isn’t the last time we’ll be here! If you wan’t to check this place, here’s a brief map I found online. Invite me if you’re going there – and of course, a meal treat would be perfect 😉
